A new development in power tools is the Impact Driver and Makita’s breakthrough 4-way combi. These tools have tool holders for hexagon shank bits and are often used as very powerful screwdrivers – but can also be used with hexagon shank drill bits. These machines are made to extreme levels of accuracy and many hexagon shank bits, which are only designed to fit into 3 jaw chucks, do not meet these tolerances. Where these bits are made to these exact tolerances they are shown with a DIN HEX symbol, naturally, bits made to this standard also fit in 3 jaw chucks.
